Episode 20 - 12 Days of Christmas

12 festive Ideas to Get You in the Holiday Spirit

Show Notes:

This holiday season may be different than years past, but there are plenty of opportunities to make new traditions and create lasting memories.

1. Find out where the best holiday light displays are in your area using the Cheer Map through the Neighborhood app. Bring along some hot cocoa and listen to your favorite holiday station.

2. Random Acts of Kindness - spend a day thinking of ways you can make someone else’s day. Pay for someone in line behind you; put someone’s grocery cart away; leave a kind not on a neighbor’s door; call a loved one you haven’t talked to in a while. Get creative.

3. Neighbor Secret Santa - Leave treats and a note on your neighbor’s doorstep. Tell them to pass it on (free printable here)

4. Hallmark Movie Night - Host a watch party on Zoom. Spice it up with our Hallmark Movie Drinking Game (free printable here)

5. Make a gingerbread house; or for a new spin on an old classic, make a charcuterie house.

6. Neighborhood Tree Lighting - Coordinate a night with neighbors to turn all the holiday lights off, have a countdown and turn them all on at the same time. Bonus points if caroling is involved.

7. Make a Wreath - Grab a wreath form and supplies from your local craft store, or go to your neighborhood tree lot and ask for free clippings (yes, they will give them to you!)

8. Classic Holiday Movie Night - Have a movie marathon with your classic favorites and maybe one you’ve never seen. Load up on the popcorn and cocoa.

9. Cocoa Bar - Include this with another activity on our list, or for a special treat any night. Make your cocoa in a slow cooker and set out treats to add in. Peppermint candies, chocolate chips, marshmallows and maybe some liqueurs for the adults. This electric milk frother is a game changer for cocoa!

10. Family Craft Night - Have a fun night of crafting with simple ideas everyone can do. Paper chains, handprint Santas, stringing popcorn just to name a few. Check out Pinterest for more holiday craft ideas.

11. Ugly Sweater Night - No parties this year? have your own and make some ugly sweaters with things you have on hand. Use battery lights, fabric scraps and tinsel. Get creative and have a contest for the best ugly sweater.

12. Baking Night - Go all out with your favorite baked goods. Remember to make some treats for Santa and his reindeer so he will be extra good to you!

We hope you enjoy these ideas and make the most of this holiday season! Let us know in the comments which ones you try!

Happy Holidays,
