Let's Laugh

Here at Soul Style Project, we LOVE to laugh! So in honor of National Let’s Laugh Day, which is March 19, we are dedicating this episode to all the things that make us laugh.

Whether it is a funny movie, a well-told joke, or just the silly things that make up our day-to-day lives, laughter truly is the best medicine. In fact, there is evidence to back this up. Did you know, laughter decreases stress hormones and increases immune cells and infection-fighting antibodies, thus improving your resistance to disease. Yeah, we could all use a little of that right now. Laughter also triggers the release of endorphins, the body’s natural feel-good chemicals. Endorphins promote an overall sense of well-being and can even temporarily relieve pain. Put down that bottle of pills and go watch a funny movie instead!

Laughter can even get you through some tough times. When my youngest was in the hospital for several months, I sat in the hospital by her bedside and watched Conan O’Brien every night. His silly skits and witty banter helped get me through one of the most stressful periods of my life. I will be forever grateful. If you’ve never seen Conan doing his “string dance” go check out this clip here!
